Role Summary

The incumbent will be responsible for timely and accurate authorization of outward and inward remittance requests including salary transfers, process clearing and collections activities (inward/outward) and post-dated cheques (PDCs) for the Group’s retail, corporate and governmental entities/clientele. In doing so, the incumbent will adhere to the approved policy/ procedures and related processes in place for authorizing the same.  Furthermore, the incumbent will be responsible for central cash activities by timely responding to/servicing QNB branch requests (including the offsite ATMs and cash deposit machines) for additional cash or transfer of cash from branches (including offsite ATMs and cash deposit machines) from/ to the main vault thus ensuring maintenance of adequate though not excessive cash levels. Also responsible for timely and accurate processing of outward and inward remittance requests including salary transfers, process clearing and collections activities(inward/outward) and post-dated cheques (PDCs) for the Group’s retail, corporate and governmental entities/clientele.

Role Discription

 Act within the limits of the powers delegated to the incumbent

Observes and promotes cost consciousness and efficiency, and enhance productivity, to minimize costs, avoid wastes, and optimize benefits for the bank

Verify daily balancing of the related suspense/ transit accounts used for processing outward/ inward remittance requests and notify the Supervisor Payments of long outstanding transactions that have not yet been cleared for initiation of timely follow-up in this regard, and thereby help avoid any losses to the Group on account of such transactions.

Provide adequate and efficient remittance processing, bulk processing services (i.e. clearing/collection, salary transfers, post-dated cheques (PDCs) to internal customers including QNB domestic branches and thereby help them serve external customers including retail/corporate and government customers in a more efficient manner, resulting in increased external customer satisfaction levels.

Assist customers in all their queries on Bank’s product and seek solution to their requests

Maintain activities in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments/ units to achieve improvements in turn-around time.

Build and maintain strong and effective relationship with all other related departments and units to achieve the Group’s goals/objectives.

Adhere to the established processes and controls (automated/ manual) to prevent/ detect the transfer of funds to/ from potentially suspect countries, banks, individuals, entities to ensure compliance with applicable anti-money laundering (AML) rules/ regulations.

Constantly strive to reduce/minimize all kinds of errors while authorizing requests pertaining to the department.

Ensure any suspicious transactions identified are timely informed to and discussed with the Supervisor Payments/superior for resolution and if required, reported to the Local Compliance (reporting to Group Compliance).

Ensure all requests received during the day are completely, accurately and timely authorized within the prescribed TAT and that any pending items are identified and promptly attended to on the following day.

Maintain proper and adequate records/documents with respect to all processes pertaining to the department and to ensure the same is in line with the policy/ procedures and pertinent regulatory requirements.

Ensure that duly authorized mandates are received from the corporate/ government clients pertaining to salary transfer requests, along with the respective employee-related information, prior to authorization of such transactions.

Ensure efficient, complete and accurate transaction authorization, operability of related systems and adherence to established/approved procedures.

With regards to swift transfers, liaise with the help desk function for resolving SWIFT/tested telex related issues.

Conduct the provision of central cash activities to provide timely transfer of cash from and to branches (including offsite ATMs and cash deposit machines) and thereby meet internal customer (viz. QNB domestic branches) needs to enable them to serve external customers in a more efficient manner, resulting in increased external customer satisfaction levels.

Perform daily balancing of the related suspense/ transit accounts used for processing outward/ inward remittance requests and notifying the Manager Central Operations of long outstanding transactions that have not yet been cleared for initiation of timely follow-up in this regard, and thereby help avoid any losses to the Group on account of such transactions.

Ensure there is appropriate preparation for the timely transportation of cash to offsite locations in accordance with the pre-determined schedules to ensure adequate availability of cash at all times to enable them to serve their customers.

Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal compliance requirements including, but not limited to, the QNB Country Compliance manual; Group Compliance Policies and Procedures (Anti Money Laundering & Counter Terrorist Financing, Sanctions Policy, Data Protection Policy, Fraud Control Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy, Conflict of Interest and Insider Dealing Policy). In accordance with the Branch Governance manual, contribute to and comply with the Branch’s Risk Framework, consider Risk Appetite and promote a positive Risk Culture:

- Understand and effectively perform your role under the Three Lines of Defense principle to identify, measure, monitor, manage and report risks.

- Ensure systematic good outcomes for clients in accordance with Conduct Risk policy.

- Support the framework of RCSA, KRI, Incident reporting and remediation, as appropriate, in accordance with the Operational Risk Management requirements.

Ensuring high standards of data protection and confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information. Maintaining utmost confidentiality with regards to customer and internal bank information obtained during the course of business and provide such information on a need to know basis only to Senior Management of QNB, Audit and Compliance functions, and relevant Regulators.

All other ad hoc duties and/or activities related to QNB that management may request of the employee from time to him

Qualifications

University graduate preferably with a Major in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or Information Technology (related field of study),

Min 5 years of experience in various sub departments of Operations within a large bank 

Excellent oral and written communication skills (including report writing) in English; with Arabic, French or applicable local language highly desirable

 

Required Special Skills:

  • Knowledge of the collection rules/ regulations including pertinent regulatory directives (including AML related rules/ regulations) and related best practices.

  • Understanding of central cash operations/ activities and related processes.

  • Good knowledge of SWIFT related operations, including usage of SWIFT terminals, related codes and operation of tested telex.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively in a deadline-oriented environment.

  • Detail oriented with good analytical skills

  • Professional attitude and demeanor.

  • Well-developed forward planning ability.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills coupled with decision making ability
