Job Purpose Summary:
The incumbent in conjunction with the VP Islamic Business Development and in coordination with Group Functions shall be responsible to Support development of unique and innovative Sharia compliant, structured and investment products for QNB’s International banking client base in line with the Group’s strategy
Essential Duties & Responsibilities by Dimensions:
A. Shareholder & Financial:
Implements KPI’s and best practices for incumbent position.
Support the International departments/ units in providing innovative Sharia compliant solutions (products, including structured and investment products) to their client base and thereby help them in achieving/ exceeding their revenue, volume and profit targets.
Enhance shareholder value as a result of the above.
Demonstrate understanding of the important factors behind the bank's financial & non-financial performance Promote cost consciousness and efficiency and enhance productivity, to minimise cost, avoid waste, and optimise benefits for the bank.
Act within the limits of the powers delegated to the incumbent.
B. Customer (Internal & External):
Responsible for briefing the department VP to the needs of the customer and lead the customer focus initiative in the entire department by constantly striving to introduce innovative products in line with customer expectations, which are agreed approved by management and the Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB).
Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with other related units/ departments to achieve Group’s goals.
Support to develop/review/improve processes required for opening sharia complaint accounts in QNB international units.
Monitor and report the performance of international units and share it with senior management.
Build and maintain strong/effective relationships with related departments/units to achieve the Group’s objectives.
Provide timely/accurate data to external/internal Auditors, Compliance, Financial Control and Risk when required with close liaising with VP and IBD Management and the branch.
Support Vice President to ensure sharia compliance perspective effected, via SSB observation, for the following tasks:
Maintain high documentation standards to enable compliance with relevant Sharia/ other pertinent directives and thereby avoid imposition of penalties/ fines in this regard and the consequent financial/ reputation loss.
Launch new products based on the solution using best industry standards as product development cycle times for (conceptualization to deployment)
Provision of relevant information to and interaction with external/ internal legal personnel and QNB Sharia Board or equivalent for approval of pertinent legal documentation.
Develop/review/improve processes required for opening sharia complaint accounts in QNB international units.
Monitor and report the performance of international units and share it with management.
C. Internal (Processes, Products, Regulatory):
Represent QNB International Islamic team at relevant conferences to enhance image of the organization
D. Learning & Knowledge:
Proactively identify areas for professional development of self and undertake development activities.
Seek out opportunities to remain current with all developments in professional field.
E. Legal, Regulatory, and Risk Framework Responsibilities:
Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal compliance requirements including, but not limited to, Group Compliance Policies and Procedures (AML & CTF, Sanctions Policy, Data Protection Policy, Fraud Control Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy, Conflict of Interest and Insider Dealing Policy).
Understand and effectively perform your role under the Three Lines of Defence principle to identify measure, monitor, manage and report risks.
Maintain appropriate knowledge to ensure full qualification to undertake the role.
Complete all mandatory training provided by the Bank, attain, and maintain the required levels of competence.
Attend mandatory (internal and external) seminars as instructed by the Bank.
F. Other:
Ensure high standards of data protection and confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information.
Maintaining utmost confidentiality concerning customer and internal bank information obtained during the course of business and provide such information on a need to know basis only to Senior Management of QNB, Audit and Compliance functions, and relevant Regulators.
Maintain high professional standards to uphold QNB's reputation and to strengthen its market leadership position.
All other ad hoc duties/activities related to QNB that management might request from time to time.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably within a highly rated international bank.
Minimum education requirement: Bachelor's Degree (related field of study)
